Edge AI GPU Lösungen - Smarte Straßenbeleuchtung mit Edge AI GPU Lösung in Smarten Städten

Innodisk, Eindhoven, 27.09.2022 - The intelligent street lighting project was implemented by Innodisk in Taipei City, the Taiwanese capital, together with the local Project Management Office. The solution includes lighting, safety warnings, traffic assessments, parking lot detection, and environmental recognition through air quality sensors integration.

One challenge during the project implementation was the latency in automatic license plate recognition (ALPR). The Aetina Edge AI platform was used here. It achieves high-resolution image recognition in real time. Multiple environmental indicators from various sensors must be monitored simultaneously. The Sysinno outdoor air quality detector iAeris3 provides environmental reports including temperature, humidity, volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, ozone, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. Users can select up to nine air factors simultaneously. Another task was integrating external components such as cameras requiring power supply. The Aetina Mini Series M2 features PoE (Power over Ethernet). This compact device delivers high performance with low power consumption. Storage is provided by Innodisk M.2 (P42) 3TE6 SSD — a DRAM-less SSD with PCIe interface and industrial 3D TLC NAND Flash.

The Aetina Mini Series M2 with two PoE-powered cameras, combined with Innodisk’s DRAM and Flash storage as well as the Sysinno outdoor air detector, forms a complete intelligent street lighting solution. It provides safety warnings, traffic assessments, parking lot detection, and environmental data.

Factory automation using AI – Automatic Optical Inspection with real-time inference

The manufacturing of printed electronic components involves roll-to-roll processing (R2R), trimming, optical surface inspection, and defect marking.

An essential element is a fast and highly accurate inspection system for print errors to detect and prevent damage and defects during the various production steps. Without AI, employees must manually inspect each product, which takes an average of three seconds per item. Manual inspection accuracy can also vary greatly between inspectors. To make this process more efficient and reduce inaccuracies, Innodisk developed an AI-powered solution for automated optical inspection (AOI).

It was necessary to consider that deploying cameras, sensors, and AI computing platforms is usually very time-consuming and unmanned systems often crash. On-site technicians are typically expensive. Innodisk’s comprehensive solution simplifies all aspects of AI computing platforms, and the InnoAgent Out-of-Band Management Module enables system restarts from any location.

The Innodisk solution combines the capabilities of the EXOU-X261 FPGA Machine Vision Solution Kit and the InnoAgent Out-of-Band Module to achieve automated image processing inspection with out-of-band remote management. The system leverages deep learning to detect and label assembly errors. It can be deployed and managed extensively, enabling fully autonomous inspection in any factory. With the integrated InnoAgent module, the system is highly available and can be remotely restarted if the operating system encounters issues like a blue screen or primary network failure. The InnoAgent Out-of-Band Module also allows monitoring international system statistics via Innodisk’s iCAP platform.

ASIC solution in transportation with traffic flow calculation and vehicle detection

Traffic management is crucial for ensuring mobility and traffic flow on the roads. Real-time control and prediction are the first steps toward smarter traffic management. Innodisk’s AI department was tasked with developing a comprehensive solution that guarantees high performance and near 100% availability. Real-time monitoring and prediction require high-performance AI computers, and safety-critical systems demand high availability and 24/7 remote access.

The solution uses the fanless Innodisk AOSI-020 AI system with the Hailo-8TM Edge AI processor, capable of up to 8 Tera operations per second. The Innodisk InnoAgent OOB Remote Management Module enables out-of-band remote management, even if the system crashes. The Innodisk SATADOM-SH 3TE7 supports multiple industrial functions, including TRIM, NCQ, and S.M.A.R.T.

The components form a high-performance traffic management system with near 100% uptime, as it can be managed remotely from any location using Innodisk’s out-of-band management features via InnoAgent. Beyond high availability, remote commands such as restart or power on/off can also be sent through the InnoAgent module.
